Challenges Beyond REACh: Global Chemical Regulations

Save the date - June 3, 2014! While EU REACh is allowing the chemical industry a brief respite, legislators in the rest of the world are not idle at this time. Asian countries like China, Japan, Korea and Thailand have updated their chemical management regulations. In addition in the USA, the
first ideas over a reform of the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)
are taking shape. These developments will lead to new duties and requirements for chemical companies which focus on these markets.

We will provide an overview on the management and implementation of several chemical regulations:

  • New Chemical Substance Notification (China NCSN) and Decree 591 on the safe management of dangerous chemicals in China

  • Reform of the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) in the USA

  • New Substance Notification in Canada

  • Act on the Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals in Korea (Korea REACH)

  • Latest amendments to the Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL) in Japan

  • Chemical management systems in Thailand and Malaysia

  • Philippines, Indonesia and activities on ASEAN level

  • Russia and CIS: safety management of chemicals and implementation of GHS
